Massage Therapy

MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage therapy is a general term for several disciplines that utilize many forms of body work techniques to promote healing and health. There are over 80 forms of massage therapy including neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, Shiatsu, Swedish, relaxation, and trigger point therapy massage.

Massage is done with varying levels of pressure and can be applied using the hands, fingers, elbows, and forearms. Therapists target specific tissues including the muscles, tendons and ligaments, as well as other connective tissue.

Massage has many proven benefits such as pain relief, reduced anxiety and stress, increasing flow of lymph, increasing blood flow for healing, and breaking up fibrotic scar tissue to allow improved range of motion.

At Scott Chiropractic and Healthcare Systems we maintain the most professional atmosphere and our therapists often consult with other heatlhcare providers to provide the most effective results for our clients.

There are some contraindications for massage therapy, so we ask all clients to thoroughly complete our paperwork so we can assess  your condition and your needs.

What to Expect:

Clients are treated lying on a specialized massage table in the face up and face down position. Clients may be fully or partially unclothed but the therapist will keep the client covered with sheets or blankets except for the body parts being treated with massage.

Different types of massage oils, aromatherapy and lotions may be used during the massage and clients are instructed to drink plenty of water after your massage.

It is not uncommon that clients may experience some soreness after their massage and we stress the importance of communication during the massage with your therapist to reduce the level of soreness and acheive optimal results.
