What to Expect on your Chiropractic Visit

Phases of Care

Chiropractic care is effective for many conditions and problems. Depending on the diagnosis and severity of your problem, your treatment plan will also vary. Some factors may also slow the progress of treatment. These may include: poor work ergonmonics, other health factors like diabetes or disc degeneration, or work requirements that are physical in nature and may be aggravating your condition. The Doctors at Scott Chiropractic on lake Loveland understand these factors and will help educate you on how to better manage these factors so you can be better faster.

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better and get you out of pain. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need approximately 4-6 visits.  Some conditions like disc injuries or pinched nerves may take a little longer. Early treatment is usually combined with physiotherapy treatments for better and faster results. These help reduce swelling and muscle spasm and promote better circulation for faster recovery.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury.  This is when patients have improved substantially and although some mild discomfort may still exist, they are feeling much better and are able to perform activities of normal daily living with minimal pain. Treatment during this time frame may vary from once a week to once every 2 weeks for a period of several weeks. Working on the alignment of your spine and promoting optimal spinal mobility helps injuries heal more efficiently.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

The wellness phase often includes specific exercises or stretches that will help strengthen your problem areas and thus reduce the number of future flare ups. Once your body has fully healed, it may be  important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. This may vary for each patient. For most patients' this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor once every 4-6 weeks based on your lifestyle and goals. Many patients' call this time frame their "tune up." This is when the grind of daily life and normal physical stressors affect our spines and any problem areas we may have. We start to experience mild symptoms like achiness, mild headaches or a general stiff feeling.  The goal is to recognize any symptoms or flare up's early. When we do this and get our treatment early, it will ensure a fast recovery with minimal treatment
